About

PupEntryRamps helps you pick a dog ramp, step, or hitch stair that actually fits your dog, your car, and your bed. No guesswork, no “fits most vehicles” hand-waving.

Why we started

Most ramp listings tell you the length and the weight limit, then leave you to figure out the rest. But the number that matters most to your dog’s joints is the incline angle, and that depends on how high your SUV, truck, or bed is. A ramp that feels like a gentle slope on a couch can turn into a 30-degree climb at a tailgate.

How we research

  • We do the slope math. We calculate the real incline angle for common heights using angle = arcsin(rise ÷ ramp length). For dogs with IVDD or arthritic joints, we look for 18° to 22°.
  • We read the fine print on weight. We compare the manufacturer’s weight rating and any deflection (flex) specs, with a close eye on dogs over 100 lb.
  • We look at what’s under the paws. Ribbed rubber, looped carpet, and grit tape all grip differently, especially when wet.
  • We check the fit. Side-door openings, cargo heights, folded size, and weight you’ll be lifting in and out of the car.

Our numbers come from published manufacturer specs and our own geometry calculations. When we haven’t verified something ourselves, we say so.
